Accounting Associate (Part-time)

Birchbox is looking for a hardworking and motivated self-starter to assist the Accounting & Finance team in the UK. The ideal individual is able to handle multiple projects and prioritise, while being an excellent team player. As an integral part of a small team, this role will play a fundamental role in creating efficiencies and best practices in a constantly growing and evolving environment.

The Part-time Accounting Associate will perform a broad spectrum of accounting tasks, such as: assisting in the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of the cash management process, the accounts payable process, sales tax reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations. This individual will work closely with the Global Accounting Director and the Accounting and Finance team, as well as gain exposure to other departments and leadership throughout the company. 

This position will work between 20-24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage purchase ledger
  • Receive, match, process, reconcile and enter invoices into accounting software
  • Manage invoices with external vendors and internal departments in a timely fashion
  • Process payments for authorisation
  • Assist in preparing the monthly stock report
  • Liaise with logistics team to align on stock reporting
  • Prepare monthly intercompany invoices
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts
  • Accruals & prepayments
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Prepare Irish VAT returns
  • Assist in preparing monthly EC Sales & Intrastat reporting
  • Prepare and assist in annual audit
  • Where relevant, carrying out ad-hoc duties as required 
  • Requirements

  • 2+ yrs experience in accountancy (degree in accounting a plus)
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills (IF, Vlookup, etc)
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational & analytical skills
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to exercise judgment and solve difficult problems
  • Ability to work independently and desire to be apart of a tight knit team
  • Comfortable working with different currencies
  • Experience with Quickbooks a plus
