The opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for anassistant accountant to join the UK Life Reporting finance function. As part of the role you will be responsiblefor timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financialinformation in order to balance financial performance, compliance, and customersatisfaction. We are looking for an enthusiasticcandidate who is able to work both independently and as part of a team in orderto identify operational improvements whilst delivering on our commitment tocustomers. As a member of the team you will play a vital part in helping thedepartment to achieve its operational objectives and ensure the team delivers ahigh quality service

Key activities:

Examples of potential activities thatyou may be asked to support are:

  • Review the accuracy of balance sheet, profit& loss and other financial information required by the Zurich Group, inline with Zurich Group instructions, guidelines and policies;
  • Preparation of quarterly management andinterim accounts for non-insurance companies;
  • Preparation of annual statutoryaccounts on both an FRS 101 and FRS 102 basis;
  • Support year end statutory audit activitiesincluding Directors’ emoluments and related parties information;
  • Ongoing analysis / oversight of SAPledgers including assistance with intercompany balance queries, cash managementand journal entries/queries;
  • Proactivelysearch for internal control and operational improvements;
  • Review control evidence provided by theRegional Finance Centre (RFC) in Krakow to support sign off by local managers;
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with Finance,Accounting, Reporting and Operations management team, local auditors, CompanySecretarial and the wider Finance department;
  • Assistance with ad hoc project work.
  • Your skills andexperience:

  • Part/Fully Qualified Accountant;
  • Knowledge of financial systems &business platforms (SAP an advantage);
  • Microsoft office experience essential;
  • Financial reporting experience (anadvantage);
  • Financial services experience (anadvantage);
  • Excellent time and task managementskills;
  • Competently act as a change agent withthe appetite to initiate and implement change and continuous process improvements;
  • Makes decisions in line with responsibility and accountability;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • Knowledge of financial serviceslegislation, regulation and accounting policies (an advantage)
