Location:  Flexible (must be commutable to Fareham)

The opportunity: 

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Fareham. This is a role within our P&C Regulatory Reporting team, who are responsible for the accuracy and data integrity of the monthly financial close. As a member of the team you will play a vital part in helping the department to achieve its operational objectives and ensure the team delivers a high-quality service. 

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

The role is part of a team who are focussed on the completion of the monthly close process and delivery of all reporting for Finance. Your responsibilities will include -

  • Preparation and posting of adjustments into the SAP financial accounting system
  • Supporting the business through premium and commission review and oversight
  • Balance sheet reporting, analysis, reconciliations and control
  • Support and analysis for Group financial reporting
  • Help identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Support members of the team during the close process and both promote and be involved in cross training
  • Assist in defining and building new reports in line with business needs
  • Work closely with the offshore team
  • Ensure tasks performed adhere to the control framework 
  • Your skills and experience:

  • Studying for an accounting qualification
  • Understanding of financial reporting and the close process
  • Experience of working with people at different levels on financial issues
