About the Position

The candidate that is hired for this part-time Associate Faculty position for our online Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).  Candidates must have a California RN, APRN license and National Certification to teach in the CA FNP program. Only candidates that are able to teach at this specific campus location should apply.

  • As a faculty member you’ll be challenged with adding your professional expertise to instruct a curriculum which is centrally developed with specific learning objectives.
  • Provide timely and detailed feedback on a weekly basis and offer student support via classroom, phone, and email.
  • Utilize classroom learning system technology (provided by university), the Internet, and Microsoft Office software.

  • Doctorate of Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or a PhD in Nursing OR
  • Doctorate degree in any area and a Master’s degree in Nursing OR
  • All candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a clinical nursing practice setting with a minimum of 1 year of current applicable experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the last 5 years.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • All candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a clinical nursing practice setting with a minimum of 2 years of current applicable experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the last 5 years.
  • All Faculty  must  hold an active unencumbered or unrestricted  license in the state of CA
  • Registered Nurse  (RN)  and 
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse  (APRN)  license 
  • Active  National Certification  as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

  • Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Acceptable professional position is a Nurse Practitioner with adult and geriatric practice experience. NOTE: inclusion of adult and geriatric practice in patient care is acceptable if the specialty demographic is covered within the experience..
  • SCHOLARSHIP: All faculty members must have one record of scholarship within the last five years that meets UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement. Faculty who do not currently meet this requirement may still be qualified, however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved to come into compliance with this Graduate Faculty Scholarship requirement to maintain the content area approval.
