As part of our Decision Science function, the BI Developer will develop, embed and continuously improve the quality of data structuring, reporting and data visualisation used by our Executive Committee and relevant functional teams to inform and enhance decision-making across Premier Inn.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop new/enhanced reporting and/or visualisation of data to support effective decision-making
  • Drive adoption and utilisation of reporting and visualisation
  • Develop expertise in one or more areas of functional utilisation of data
  • Develop high quality data structures and support provision, consistency and quality of data.
  • Gather requirements for new/enhanced data visualisation/reporting based on BI backlog
  • Develop high quality visualisation within Tableau or PowerBI, iterating efficiently via feedback from the commissioning function/team/user
  • Ensure new/enhanced visualisation are understood and being used effectively, soliciting feedback where appropriate to understand how improvements can be made
  • Use SQL and if necessary other languages (e.g. R, Python) to prepare data for application in automated/scheduled reporting and visualisation, and in support of self-serve analytics (e.g. via Tableau Desktop)

  • Good understanding of data structures and systems used to deliver BI
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Good SQL development skills
  • Strong/intermediate Tableau and/or PowerBI skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Strong communications skills with ability to listen to, and replay requirements using simple, non-technical language
  • Ability to understand business processes and translate into data/visualisation requirements
  • Working understanding of dynamic pricing model, marketing strategy and other relevant Commercial knowledge areas
  • Good knowledge of the budget hotel sector
  • Development within other programming languages, such as R and python
  • Experience in developing data visualisation/analytics in other tools, such as Qlicktech, Spotfire
  • Experience with the extended Microsoft BI stack
