The census is a survey of the entire population of England and Wales that happens every 10 years. It’s run by the Office for National Statistics. Whether you’re interested in beginning your career, leading a team or sharpening your management skills, there’s a job for you.

If you like working with the community and talking to people, this is the role for you. You will knock on doors to champion the census, boost response rates and make sure residents have the right support to fill in their form.
Census team leader
Enjoy leading and getting the best out of others? Our team leaders oversee and co-ordinate the field operation in their area. They guide a team of census officers and provide the tools and expertise that their team needs to succeed.
Census area manager
You will enjoy active, people-focused work to motivate and manage our team leaders. You will track their performance and make sure their teams visit addresses – sometimes several times – to help everyone complete the census.
