Location: Holborn/Dunstable/Home with flexibility.  We are currently working remotely like most but do support remote working long term

Salary: c. £80K basic + Benefits

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Strategy Manager here at Whitbread. The Commercial Strategy Manager is a fundamental role contributing to our ongoing commercial success for brands such as Premier Inn and Bar & Block. As a key member of the Commercial Team within Finance you will lead cross functional projects and analyses to determine drivers of commercial performance and unearth strategic and tactical opportunities.

What you will be doing:

  • You will drive commercial performance by covering a breadth of areas including, pricing algorithms, digital marketing, ecommerce and all ancillary sales
  • Run strategy projects or project workstreams and input into business planning process, running the projects will involve a combination of problem solving, case for change, stakeholder engagement, implementation planning
  • For the relevant area, understand what we do today and the drivers of the costs, customer satisfaction / issues, how the process works and impact on the other business areas 
  • Use insight based on a combination robust analysis of relevant data, review of other industries and competitor best practice, latest relevant technology trends and the vast level of accumulated knowledge across the business to support development of any proposed solutions
  • Build business case for proposed solution indicating the financial customer and team impact 
  • Develop communications plan in line with projects and case changes 
  • Partner and work with stakeholders are well managed throughout the project and people affected by the programme / change are actively involved and engaged 
  • Influence and support Directors, Executive committee, Operational and Support Centre Teams

  • Previous experience within a Commercial Strategic orientated role within a large corporate environment or consultancy
  • Good project management experience and approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle 
  • Brilliant stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence up to a senior level 
  • Strong strategic grasp, experience in planning as well as adding value to the business through excellent commercial judgement 
  • Brilliant analytical capability with a structured and methodical approach to business analysis 
  • Brilliant commercial judgement with the ability to spot opportunities using data and insights  
  • Excellent communication with the ability to engage, actively listen to ensure problem solving is identified at the root cause
