Community Led Initiatives CIC provide essential services which support people, helping them to recover from addiction, homelessness, mental ill-health and resettle in the community after prison. Founded in 2013, they work with 400 people each year across Greater Manchester and the East of England. This award-winning organisation is led by people who share lived experiences with those they support.

The successful post-holder will be a skilled copywriter, who can turn ideas into gorgeous graphics and stimulating content, bringing life and personality to digital platforms. They will support the team to increase CLI's national profile.
The Communications and Policy Advisor is a new role which will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of CLI's communications strategies and responses to policy on a part time basis. Required initially on a 25 hour per week basis, this key appointment will see the successful applicant take up a new and vital post within the organisation. The role is currently home based due to national Covid-19 restrictions. However, there will be a requirement to conduct site visits when it is safe to do so.

Your responsibilities will be varied but will include the following:

Communications Strategy

Design, drive and deliver the organisations communications and external relations strategy.
Managing CLI's brand ensuring adherence to our funder's guidelines
Design and implement effective processes to capture and collate content, good practice, news and activities
Leading on the development, design and production of content for multiple audiences (including blogs, policy statements, reports on social justice issues)
Effectively communicate the organisations' values in all media e.g. website, social media, brochures and reports
Managing internal communications including drafting, design and publication of all communications / newsletters
Managing promotional events to raise the profile of the organisation and our social purpose mission.
Undertake copywriting, image collation and proofing for print and on-line applications

Website Management Development

Developing, maintaining and updating web presence, social media content and relevance.
Ensure CLI is maximising online marketing and advertising opportunities including SEO and social networking
Monitor web analytics

Media and public relations

Provide preparatory and delivery support for CLI's leadership team and spokespeople ahead of media and / or public appearances
Conduct regular scanning of Government policy and media and distribute articles and relevant information to staff and managers and support the drafting of policy responses.
Distribute good news stories to relevant media
Oversee the PR and communications work carried out by all staff to ensure relevance, quality and adherence to guidance.

Social Media

Identifying and developing channels for reaching target audiences
Design and create compelling social media content in order to increase CLI's visibility and awareness of our impact
Manage CLI's social media channels

Skills Experience

At least 2-3 years of professional experience in a commercial, public or third sector communications role with a strong focus on managing online/social media content
Experience managing a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
Experience of the social sector in a volunteer or employee capacity - knowledge of community or grassroots organisations is particularly desirable
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Strong project management skills
Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and execute in a well-planned manner
Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
