Corporate Governance Officer


This role is based at Northwood: JFC HQ, Sandy Lane, Northwood, Middlesex, HA6 3HP although we are committed to flexible working and seek to enable this wherever possible.

About the job

The post holder will join an exciting, diverse, newly-formed Director Overseas Bases (Dir OB) HLB at the pinnacle of JFC work. He/she will report directly to a C2 Corporate Governance officer and the Assistant Head of the Overseas Bases HLB. The successful candidate will support the wider Corporate Governance Team to commission, collate and deliver required outputs and hold the HLB to account regarding correct process management and overall compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

Holding a wide corporate governance portfolio, the post-holder will contribute to the work of the wider team in ensuring that all personnel and processes adhere to relevant policy and local JSP documentation. There is plenty of scope to develop further in the role and to explore new emerging work areas

• Quarterly performance returns;

• Bi-annual compliance report returns;

• To become the HLB point of contact for White Fleet governance matters, including Letters of Delegation for White Fleet ADOs

• Vehicle Tax Liability Returns including benefit decision letters

• Budget Holder Letters of Delegations to CBFs/CO

• Managing Gifts and Hospitality Register and Conflicts of Interest

• Managing and assuring compliance activity via HLB Assurance Visits Diary Tool Tracker

• Update and manage HLB landing page on DefNet homepage

• To provide a quarterly dashboard for 1* and 2* attention summarising quarterly HLB performance management information

• To contribute to HLB documents – ad-hoc improvements to Business Resilience Plans, Business Continuity Plans, updates to Command Plans and objectives etc

• Quarterly CorpGov newsletter – required distribution each quarter to remind BLB units of all latest policy documents

• Ad-hoc TLB commissions or requests for compliance information and multiple annual returns on behalf of senior leaders, BLB units etc

• Membership of Corporate Governance Working Group, and arranging HLB forums.
