Deputy Director: Arts, Libraries and Digital Culture

The Deputy Director, Arts, Libraries and Digital Culture will be responsible for an area with a very high public, media and parliamentary profile and a high degree of ministerial interest.

This is a fascinating, fun, stretching Deputy Director role. It offers a broad mix of opportunities, including:

- strategy and policy development (on a wide range of areas from digital culture to philanthropy to the future of the UK CIty of Culture competition);

- sponsorship of two major Arms Length Bodies (ACE and the British Library);

- managing a quality service (through superintending the Secretary of State’s duties under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964);

- oversight of programme design and delivery (such as the UK City of Culture competition and the £20m Cultural Development Fund); and

- Directorate-wide responsibility for overseeing the analytical hub of economists and social researchers supporting theory of change, business case development, research, monitoring and evaluation across all of Arts, Heritage and Tourism.
