It provides the strategic finance leadership responsible for delivering effective finance business partnering to either the MoJ’s corporate and professional services or to three of the department’s Executive Agencies and their senior leadership teams, ensuring they receive proactive decision support across the core financial areas through a process of continuous improvement and the development of enhanced skills and capability throughout the group.
As a Deputy Director in MoJ Finance Business Partnering Group you will be the strategic finance lead for either the MoJ’s corporate and professional services or three of the department’s Executive Agencies.
The Ministry’s corporate services functions are a significant undertaking. With a budget of around £1bn the functions provide the infrastructure and professional services necessary to support the department’s critical frontline services. As business partner to these areas you will provide support to estates, digitech, HR, finance, change and commercial functions.
The operational business partnering role also sits at the heart of public service delivery, providing business partnering to three of the Ministry’s agencies – the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) and the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). With combined budgets of around £2bn, this is a challenging and rewarding role supporting three Accounting Officers who discharge their responsibilities to Parliament and delivery public value through their organisations.
Both these roles provide first-line strategic support to senior leaders operating in very challenging delivery areas. To succeed you will need to be a first-class finance business partner who is comfortable operating in a complex, demanding and changing delivery environment.
You will need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the function to ensure alignment of financial plans with our overall financial strategy, and will need to work effectively with management account teams to provide high quality, data-driven insight and intelligence.
As a key member of the Finance Function Senior Leadership Team, you will also play an essential role in leading and building our future Finance Function, supporting the development of staff, role modelling effective leadership behaviours, ensuring we live our values and helping to embed the new finance operating model.
