Director General and Head of Office

The Attorney General’s Office makes law and politics work together at the heart of the UK constitution.  We are a specialist ministerial department, supporting the Attorney General and the Solicitor General (the Law Officers) across the full range of their legal, government, and justice functions helping deliver government policy and providing advice of the highest quality on issues which are at the cutting edge of law and politics, and which require sophisticated political and handling awareness in addition to first rate legal skills.

As Director General you will be the most senior civil servant in The Attorney General’s Office, directly responsible to the Attorney General for its smooth running in an intensely political and demanding environment.  You will provide senior leadership to the team, advise and support the Law Officers personally and cultivate strong working relationships with the bodies overseen by the Attorney General including Crown Prosecution Service and Serious Fraud Office and with departments across the whole of government.
