We require a Director of Business Strategy to play a critical role in designing, influencing, and shaping the future direction of the Department. The post-holder will lead the development and delivery of the Department’s business strategy, partnering senior colleagues within DWP and in other government departments to identify and implement changes that improve outcomes for citizens and reduce cost.
To fulfil this requirement, we are looking for an experienced change leader, capable of leading and delivering whole system change across large and complex organisations, with experience of using customer insight to balance priorities and develop deliverable strategy and policy. You will be comfortable engaging with and influencing very senior stakeholders, with the communication skills to adapt your message to suit a varied audience
Leading the development and delivery of DWP’s organisational strategy, engaging colleagues across the Department to turn DWP’s vision into a clear strategy and shape our future operating model.
Supporting senior leaders in shaping this strategy, determining prioritisation and driving its implementation.
Giving DWP people a clear view of how the department will deliver excellent services for our citizens in the future and the organisational reforms to achieve this.
Influencing how we develop and deliver new services, implementing the Department’s strategic priorities, our operating model and wider civil service reform.
Shaping how our Data, Digital, Estates, People and External partnerships will change over the next 4 years to deliver excellent services.
Leading horizon scanning work on the external environment, emerging trends and technologies, and influencing our approach to reflect these.

Demonstrable experience of strategy and policy development including using customer insight and data to drive decision-making.
Experience of translating multiple priorities into a clear and practical organisational strategy in a complex environment.
Strong and effective strategic judgment, capable of setting and communicating clear strategic direction to intern all teams, peers and stakeholders, influencing outcomes by stimulating new and creative thinking.
The leadership of a diverse and inclusive team harnessing the talents of individuals and supporting innovation to achieve significant outcomes.
