Responsible for managing and leading officers investigating serious and organised crime.
As a Senior Investigator, you will be managing a team of PIP2 investigators and mentoring trainees so will have experience mentoring and developing staff.
You will be required to manage and lead serious and organised crime investigations as a Deputy SIO / Action Allocator, and so will be experienced in managing risk, and have proven experience in decision making and managing resources.
You will be working closely with other NCA departments and partner agencies to identify threats from criminality and work in a challenging environment to pursue offenders. There may be the potential requirement to deploy as a surveillance operative, demanding full flexibility and the ability to work long hours at short notice.
Every day will be different. Using innovative approaches and ground breaking techniques you will be making decisions which help to disrupt and bring to justice criminals who present the highest threat to the UK.
You may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material. You should consider the sensitive nature of the work before deciding to apply.

NCA will provide access to Occupational Health Services and individuals placed into CSAE roles will be required to complete a psychological assessment prior to joining and throughout your employment.
To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role
You will be required to supply evidence of:
- PIP2 supervisor accreditation or equivalent experience
You will be required to supply evidence of:
•An in-depth knowledge and use of relevant legislation (UK and international law) affecting operational agency activity
•Proven experience of successfully leading or supervising people or a team to deliver against operational objectives and performance
•Experience in effective operational decision making with accountability for decisions made
If you do not hold a PIP2 Supervisor accreditation, please supply a second personal statement (no more than 1200 words) detailing your equivalent level experience in regards to the below areas:
This evidence should have been attained within the last 12 months.
•Experience in obtaining/supervising search warrants applying a range of legislation at Magistrates' and Crown Courts
•Experience of planning, conducting and managing arrest scenarios; custody time limits/procedures, extensions and authorisations; use of bad character evidence and bail.
•Experienced in the planning and supervision of interviewing witnesses and suspects.
•Experience around the management of the seizure of exhibits, continuity of evidence, seize/sift legislation.
•Knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act legislation with proven experience in disclosure obligations, processes and scheduling of material.
•Experienced and competent in managing the completion of case files and liaising with prosecuting agencies / authorities
•Recent experience of managing and supervising a team of investigators who delivered high quality criminal justice outcomes against serious organised crime, managing risk and resources with proven experience in decision making and experience of mentoring and developing staff
