G4 - Senior Officer Digital Forensic

We are currently looking to recruit 1 Senior Officer - Digital Forensic for NCCU at NCA London office.
This is a role within the digital forensics section within the NCA. The role holder will lead a team of DF officers on a variety of investigations with the chance to be trained to work at the highest end of cyber- crime investigations, child exploitation, OCG investigations and complex fraud and corruption cases. The role covers in-field digital collections, lab based work, advising SIOs on digital forensic strategy and frequent travel in the UK and abroad both operationally and to represent the NCA.

The successful candidate must hold police powers or can be immediately granted powers to meet the operational element to this role. They should be experienced in both digital forensics and complex investigations and ideally have led a DF team before.

The ideal candidate will hold or have previously held police powers.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate would:

• Provide a specialist technical investigative capability, blending a developed evidential and progressive intelligence forensic function with technical expertise to identify and respond to investigative challenges.
• Conduct forensic examination of all types of hardware (computers, phones, servers etc), using any type of operating system including but not limited to Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, iOS and Android; RAID rebuilding; live forensic analysis;
• Attend scenes to provide specialist handling advice and on-site examination; data recovery; production of evidential standard reports and statements.
• By example, lead a team of DF officers in
support of NCA objectives.
• Build working relationships as appropriate with internal and external industry to support and enhance technical capabilities.
• Give tactical advice on the collection and use of digital evidence to senior investigating officers.
• Monitor security reviews identifying suspicious or anomalous activity, take appropriate action ensuring
• Implement best security practices for NCA systems and service operation

Essential Criteria for the role

• Forensic Training in NUIX and X-ways
• Proven Experience of carrying out digital recovery and forensic analysis
• Good knowledge of UK and International Legislation affecting Agency activity
• Extensive experience of digital forensics Investigations
• Experience of leading a team of DF officers.
