G5 - Research and Development Officer Cyber Engineering Team - NCCU

We are currently looking to recruit two R&D ( Research and Development) Officers for NCCU Cyber Engineering Team. These roles will be based at NCA London office.

The team provide tactical support to operations investigating high end serious organised crime, developing new capability, supporting online operations and providing analysis services.

The ideal candidate would:

• Have experience of Cyber Investigations and the cyber security landscape and knowledge of UK legislation RIPA/CPIA.
• Be familiar with reverse engineering techniques or experience with cryptanalysis

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work in a team of R&D officers focused on internet enabled serious organised crime affecting the UK. You will conduct research & development and provide operational support to cyber-crime initiatives. You will manage operational activity, developing and deploying new capabilities in accordance with policy and relevant legal requirements.

• The Research and Development Team is looking for motivated and innovative individuals with strong technical competencies, able to use a range of digital forensics techniques to:
• Assist in the fight against cyber crime.
• Respond to critical incidents and crimes in progress in a technical investigative and advisory function.
• Develop a specialised skill sets in order to become ‘Subject Matter Experts’ in Cyber related areas.

The successful candidate will be expected to keep up to date with latest cyber attack techniques, vulnerabilities and exploits.

Essential Criteria:

• Knowledge around cyber security, e.g. network/malware/reverse engineering or experience with Crytanalysis
• Experience/interest in cyber security (e.g. penetration testing, reverse engineering, forensics etc)
• Knowledge of a scripting language (e.g . Python)
• Awareness/experience of cyber tooling e.g. IDA pro, Immunity, Metasploit, Empire etc)

  • National Insurance Number - Required for monitoring purposes only
  • Good level of understanding of criminal law and UK legislation affecting Agency Activity.
  • Skills in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Java or shell scripting)
  • Proven experience of analysing information from a wide variety of sources.
