Governance Consultant – 9 Month Secondment (Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)

The opportunity:

Ensuring that the People Team deliver excellent Customer Outcomes by adhering to the governance frameworks and remaining compliant is critical to what we do and plays a major part in the success of our business.

Do you have some experience with governance frameworks and looking for an opportunity to gain exposure to the People Team? If so, we would love to hear from you! We are looking for someone to join the Governance team providing ongoing support to the People Team across all regulatory matters including supporting people leaders across the UK on the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR).

Zurich embraces flexible working so you will be able to work from home but we would ideally like you to be based from our Swindon office so you can work closely with others in the team and the wider business. We’re flexible though so this isn’t essential as flexible working can be accommodated.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

What will you be doing?

Simply put, the key focus for this role is to deliver against our governance framework ensuring we always remain compliant.

How will you do that?

As part of the Governance Team you will become a key member of the People Team, supporting all teams and leaders, with their Governance responsibilities and acting as a key point of contact for people managers and senior stakeholders in SMCR so having the ability to build and maintain strong business relationships is important.

You will maintain and update governance processes and ensure that regular monitoring and checks are in place, monitor Risk and controls plus provide regular updates to Departmental Management, Internal Audit & Compliance.

The safety of employee data is key, within your role you will support the Data Protection Custodian for the People Team which will involve quarterly health checks, coordination of training, KIT meetings and annual procedure review.

In addition, you will play a key role in risk and breach reporting & liaison, covering all elements of People Governance, risk and issue identification, supporting monitoring and controls, looking for trends and developing mitigations actions.

You will also work closely with external teams (Business Continuity, Supplier Management, Procurement, Risk and Compliance to name a few) so a great opportunity to broaden your networks.

You will have the opportunity to own your own activities as well as providing support to the other members of the People Governance Team, to establish and broaden excellent relationships with internal Customers. You’ll need to analyse data, develop reports, undertake internal testing, communicate with UK employees and be curious about our processes and procedures, driving improvements and simplification.

It’s essential that you have solid relationship management skills, as well as having a strong ability to think outside the box and be a self-starter. Having some experience of governance frameworks would be ideal however demonstrating an interest in Governance and the ability to learn quickly is great.

As a fast-paced business, you will need to be able to work under pressure at times and adjust your plans and workloads accordingly communicating with your team and stakeholder to offer help and support.
