We’re the only major biscuit manufacturer in the UK to focus solely on biscuits, making us one of the key players in the market. We employ circa 1,600 people around the UK, with the majority of our workforce being based at our three main Bakery facilities in Llantarnam, Edinburgh and Blackpool. Our head office is based in St. Albans, with a subsidiary office is located in Blackpool & smaller but equally important Bakery based in Dorset. 

We had an amazing 2018, which has included seeing Wagon Wheels featured on the Great British Bake Off and our Llantarnam site featuring on ITV4, as part of their documentary 'Made in Britain'. Along with having amazing brands, we have secured a long term agreement to allow us to manufacture a number of Mars Biscuit branded products & Cathedral City savoury snacks, we are also forming key strategic partnerships within the Retailer Private Label sector. 

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in early 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s. This will only increase our baking capabilities across a number of brand new sweet & savoury categories. 

As the new home of Thomas Fudge’s premium biscuit brand, Burton’s Biscuit envisage Thomas Fudge’s as forming a key branded range across our existing product portfolio.

Due to a promotion within our HR Team, we now have a fantastic permanent position for a HR Graduate to join us as our new HR Administrator. This is a great 1st role in HR for someone who is hardworking & motivated.

Why work as part of the Burton’s HR Family? 

You’ll join a great existing HR team at Edinburgh, where you will provide support to the team in order to deliver against the business strategy and the corporate and site people plan. Working in a busy bakery is fast paced with lots of variety on a daily basis, including project work such as GDPR, KPI delivery & absence management, examples of key tasks can be: 

- Providing information and/or advice to managers and employees. 
- Maintaining relevant documentation, ensuring all contractual/legal documents and templates are kept up to date and in line with current legislation. 
- Conducting initial stages of disciplinary, grievance and absence management. 
- Supporting in investigating and resolving employee relations issues. 
- Ensuring that employees receive appropriate information and that they are informed when policy and/or procedure changes are updated. 
- Leading and complete payroll activities for the site. 
- Producing and maintain organization charts. 
- Coordinating and deliver inductions & Probationary process 
- Tracking of personal development plans and collate training needs. 

What are the key ingredients needed for the role? 

You will need to hold a HR related degree, or have graduated with a HR related degree by the summer of 2019. We are also looking for candidates to have demonstrated some work experience, but this doesn’t need to be within HR, as an example this could be part time retail work during your studies. 

You will need to be confident & proactive with your communication, well organised, able to work at a fast pace, able to build relationships and passionate about a career in HR.
