In Year Management
Support the IYM team leader in managing the c£350m Overseas Bases HLB budget, providing advice on financial matters and supporting the Director Overseas Bases in achieving her operational objectives. Assist monthly forecasting and tracking the HLBs financial performance ensuring the financial timetable is rigorously applied across the HLB and BLB units. Engage with overseas BLB finance teams on in year financial and budget matters. Assist with the timely completion of DOB HLB Annual Report and Accounts submissions at AP06, AP09 and AP12. Assist with DOB HLB Finance responses to NAO audit enquiries, coordinating timely submissions. Respond to queries from Government Actuaries Department for BFC and BFG pension schemes. Lead a team of up to 2 x Band Ds.
Key responsibilities include:
Responsible for the HLB scrutiny and approvals process, reviewing and assuring Business Cases and requests for expenditure in accordance with delegated authority ensuring they meet departmental standards for regularity and propriety, value for money and affordability.
Post holders will be based in Northwood but expected to travel occasionally to MOD Main Building and to the Overseas Bases from time to time.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be a finance professional – an accountancy qualification (CCAB / AAT) is desirable. Candidates will be required to demonstrate evidence of management experience, have good technical skills and a sound understanding of accounting and finance issues. They will have strong communication skills and be able to apply an analytical approach to problem solving. Strong advocates of leadership at all levels, the successful candidates will act as role models in leadership across Joint Force Command, measured by the Civil Service Leadership principles of:

Specific experience and achievements should include:
• An accountancy qualification (CCAB / AAT) is desirable.
