Information Security and Data Manager (Part Time)

The role:

We are looking for an experienced information security manager to work across the business and ensure that our systems and processes are secure. You will take responsibility for overseeing and controlling all aspects of computer security in the business. You will plan, implement and manage security measures that will protect our data and information from deliberate attack, unauthorised access, corruption and theft.

Reporting into the Legal Director, you will play a critical role in scaling the business rapidly and realising our vision both in the UK and the US.

  • Lead the Information Security programme across the business, ensuring it is responsive, innovative and cost effective.
  • Working in partnership with all areas of the business, developing relationships to help promote and improve information security and provide security advice on procurements, projects and new initiatives as required
  • Promote security awareness by developing and implementing a security awareness and training programme for all staff
  • Develop and maintain the information security policies and accompanying standards, procedures and guidance
  • Provide Strategic Threat Management including risk assessments, threat identification, incident management, management of vulnerabilities and the provision of internal reporting.
  • Investigate suspected and actual security incidents in accordance with security incident management, produce reports with recommendations and ensure any action is taken
  • Respond to enquiries from staff and provide security advice as required
  • Complete supplier requests related to information and data security as needed
  • Bring expertise and analysis to bear in the development of the Business Continuity Management programme.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing security operational processes.
  • Manage and configure physical security, disaster recovery and data backup systems
  • Manage budget and costs associated with information security
  • Assess current technology architecture for vulnerabilities, weaknesses and for possible upgrades or improvement
  • Recommend, implement and oversee technological upgrades, improvements and major changes to the information security environment
  • Communicate information security goals and new programs effectively with other departments and managers within the organization
  • Keep up to date with emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security enhancing technologies
  • Requirements

  • Strong technical understanding / background, including Cloud, Data Analytics, Security Technologies and Application Security
  • Working knowledge of industry standard frameworks such as GDPR, Cyber Essentials plus, and ISO27001
  • Understanding of common security issues and their impacts
  • Administering Information Security Software and Controls including analysing Security System Logs, Security Tools, and Data
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-specialist audiences
  • Ability to initiate new ideas to address security requirements.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to prioritise, plan and multitask work assignments
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to work with autonomy and under pressure
  • The ability to engage confidently around the business on all information security matters
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Professional security qualification (i.e. CISSP, CISMP) preferred
