Mechanical Fitter (Utilities)

About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Nuclear Operations Utilities team at Babcock.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems within and external to the Utilities Building at HM Naval Base Clyde, including Diesel engines, HP & LP compressors and seawater cooling systems.
Please note that applicants should be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces.
What do I need to do the role?
You will have previous Mechanical Fitter experience and a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or C&G equivalent).
You will demonstrate a strong focus on delivering high quality workmanship to agreed timescales and will be fully aware of the importance of applying stringent Health and Safety principles within the workplace.
Experience gained in an environment working with MAN K Major diesel engines, compressors both HP and LP or water pumps would be an advantage. Key areas of competency we require are as follows:
*Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk, and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work
*Diligence and attention to detail when undertaking all tasks
*Well-developed team working and interpersonal skills
What else do I need to know?
This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, but it is recommended for employees to travel by car due to the location.
