Occupational Health Advisor
National – some travel to sites will be required

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Occupational Health Advisor to join our team based in York. To provide robust delivery of specialist occupational health advice and support in accordance with legislation and agreed Nestle UK standards and policies. The role will require some UK travel to provide on-site support to our factories.
We are a small team of ten belonging to the central support function. At present we are developing a new approach to integrate with the business. This is an exciting time to be part of a major change as we take a new approach to occupational health and wellbeing in partnership with the business.
As an active member of the team a typical day includes telephone assessment of employees, working with managers and HR and the employees in joint case management. Liaising with sites and business units and handling queries. We are introducing a duty nurse system to handle queries, signpost to appropriate support (including physiotherapy, Employee Assistance Programme, company based resources) and to manage quick wins. We are running a significant health surveillance programme using technicians. Cases are reviewed by the OH advisor when referred from the programme. Every day is varied and the OH advisors have assigned responsibility for particular sites or business units and we are building a partnering approach to support them using OH expertise.
The team works in a very integrated and collaborative way with ‘on the fly’ support. This has become very strong since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continues this approach.
Provide a comprehensive case management service for designated sites/units including servicing of management referral requests; rehabilitation and RTW programmes and ensure appropriate reporting and communication to managers and all relevant functions.
To deliver exemplar, highly visible, proactive, comprehensive, flexible and clinically sound occupational health and wellbeing service to employees and the business.
You'll also Provide:
- Comprehensive and proactive occupational health concerning all areas of OH and wellbeing.
- Through high visibility, establish a proactive relationship with employees, managers, HR and safety, to deliver a comprehensive, business focussed and clinically sound occupational health service in accordance legislation, Nestle standards and best practice.
- Peer support to team members
- Support in the development of procedures and guidelines.
You will be either, qualified to diploma/graduate level and registered on Part 3 of the NMC register as a specialist occupational health nurse practitioner.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate the following:

- A willingness to challenge norms and innovate
- Highly visible customer focused and able to work with multiple stakeholders as a partner to support delivery of business objectives
- Able to manage own workload working autonomously and meeting short deadlines when required
- If already practicing as an OH advisor then you will be able to demonstrate a clear understating of the full range of occupational health skills required
- Good IT skills including Office 365 and ideally, experience of EOPAS or similar OH software systems
