Officer Non-Standard Services Unit, UKPPS

This is a key role at the heart of the NCA’s UK Protected Persons Non-standard Services Unit (NSU) which provides unequalled opportunity to develop this core function; future proofing the teams ability to provide technical protection arrangements across national UK policing systems and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Central Services Unit (CSU) is the central hub of the UK Protected Persons Service (UKPPS); providing strategic and practical assistance to officers affording protection arrangements to witnesses and other vulnerable people at risk of death or serious injury.
• This role will require the successful candidate to work within a team, providing Non-standard Services (NSS) covert system administration and specialist covert advice to a range of internal and external partners both across the NCA and UK law enforcement in relation to national policing IT systems, mainly PNC and PND.
• The role requires the ability to quickly grasp and assess complex and often sensitive issues, confidently advising the UKPPS network, UK Policing, Government, private industry and overseas partners.
• Ensure that the case management system is kept up to date in line with procedures and NCA policies.
• Provide advice and support to Protected Persons Unit Officers at pre-application case conferences.

Technical Criteria
You will be required to give evidence of the following criteria during the application process:
• The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of UK Policing legislation.
• Current live access and knowledge of UK national policing systems – mainly PNC and PND.
• Working knowledge of secure working practices, to include working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
• Proficient in the use of information technology – including Microsoft Office, excel and bespoke IT software.
• Experience of analysing information from a wide range of sources.

Technical skills

  • National Insurance Number - Required for monitoring purposes only
  • The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of UK Policing legislation.
