Job context

Uppingham School, founded in 1584, is a leading co-educational independent boarding school. Its 800 pupils, aged 13-18, are accommodated in 15 boarding houses, taught by over 20 academic departments, and participate in numerous extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, and drama. The academic programme is supported by business units responsible for marketing, estates, finance, human resources, IT, catering, cleaning, health and safety, and the School’s trading subsidiary. The School employs 700 staff.

The OU Association is the alumni body of Uppingham School. It exists to help members stay connected to their peers and the current work of their School. This is achieved through an extensive programme of social events and the publication of an annual magazine and e-bulletin.

The Uppingham Foundation is the School’s fundraising department. Its purpose is to generate philanthropic income that funds capital works, and financial support for pupils from less affluent backgrounds.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to support the fundraising and alumni relations work of one of the UKs prestigious independent schools. The OU Association and the Uppingham Foundation operate as one department and the purpose of this role is to support both functions, offering exceptional levels of service to Uppingham’s parent and alumni communities.

The Association’s membership is highly diverse, from recent leavers to older members, across all walks of social and professional life. Similarly, Uppingham’s community of parents of existing pupils is varied and interesting. The OU Association and Foundation Coordinator will work with colleagues to deliver a range of events, publications and personalised interactions for members of these two important groups.

Location: Uppingham, Rutland

Job type: Full Time, Maternity Cover

Hours: 35 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (term time plus)

Salary: £15,530.88 per annum (£11 per Hour)

Benefits: Pension scheme (employee contribution matched by School by factor of two, up to 10% maximum and upon completion of probationary period), 50% contribution to premiums for the School’s private health scheme, membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 joining fee), free lunches in term-time.
