An opportunity has arisen for a part time paralegal to join the family department.

Supporting the team, you will assist in the delivery of high quality services within the department. You will be expected to assist with the running of cases under the supervision of senior members of the department.

Duties will include:-

  • Providing first line support to senior fee earning staff.
  • Answering internal calls as well as client calls, taking messages and ensuring appropriate referral.
  • Communication with clients via telephone and in person to include updating clients as to progress of their matters
  • Dealing with potential new client enquiries to include taking initial information and liaising with them to arrange initial appointment.
  • Managing diaries and organising meetings for fee earners where delegated
  • Preparing Bundles in relation to Court Proceedings including indexing
  • Carrying out general administration work such as photocopying, filing and sorting post as required
  • Maintaining all paper and electronic files in an orderly and retrievable manner.
  • Preparing cost review letters
  • Liaising with experts and clients to arrange conferences
  • Assisting solicitors within the department in all procedures, including Instructing Counsel and issuing and pursuing court proceedings.
  • Attend meetings and on occasions hearings and preparing detailed attendance notes
  • The role will involve communication with clients via the telephone and in person; therefore excellent inter-personal skills are essential along with a good telephone manner. You will also be expected to travel to attend court and assist counsel when required.

    The successful candidate will be organised, responsible, a good team player with accurate keyboard skills as you will be required to undertake your own administration/typing.

    The ideal candidate will be a competent user of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PDF Docs. Knowledge of databases and time recording procedures will be a distinct advantage.

    This role would ideally suit law/LPC graduates, or similar academic achievement. 

    As this is a part time role, please state your preferred working hours when applying. Working hours must fall within 08:30 – 17:30 Monday – Friday.
