Part Time Public Health Specialist

Venn Group are currently recruiting for a Part Time Public Health Specialist on behalf of a well-respected City Council to work on their Healthier People and Places initiative.

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking forward some of the work streams that support the whole systems approach to healthy weight, this could include planning policy development (Takeaways, Food Systems), embedding health in City Design processes and Future Parks strategic work.

Location: South West

Duration: 6 months

Part Time: 3 days a week (21 hours)

Rate: Up to £25.50/hour umbrella

IR35 status: Inside IR35

Responsibilities:

Improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities, and planning, delivering and evaluating public health initiatives
Working collaboratively across a wide variety of public health areas and using specialist public health knowledge and skills to support others to promote public health
Contributing to the assessment of population health needs and the planning or commissioning of services to meet those needs
Promoting ethical practices and demonstrating an understanding of the ethical dilemmas faced when promoting population health and reducing health inequalities

Essential experience:

A relevant degree plus significant public health knowledge and skills acquired through training, experience or qualifications
A good understanding of food and diet related inequalities and systems approaches to healthy weight
Excellent project management experience and the ability to quickly build rapport and facilitate specific policy based approaches to achieving change
