Platform Services Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Platform Services Engineer within our Whitbread technology team. With the expansion of Premier Inn & Restaurants in the domestic and International markets, Whitbread are looking to grow the internal capabilities to support the outlet infrastructure.

A dedicated team of highly technical engineers is required to help design, implement and provide continued support to our outlet Infrastructure, ensuring that Whitbread continue to provide a first-class support service to our outlet functions.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Be a subject matter expert for outlet Infrastructure
  • Manage the configuration and life cycle management of our outlet infrastructure, ensuring that the systems remain complaint and adhere to our security policies and standards
  • Ongoing administration of key services, Active Directory, Group Policy and SCCM
  • Manage the outlet build. Continually develop the SCCM build environment to ensure that is fit for purpose and continues to improve the outlet experience
  • Manage and maintain outlet applications, ensuring they are updated in accordance with Vendor recommendations
  • Asset and license management
  • Maintain the Platform Services ticket queues, ensuring that SLA’s are met in accordance with the Incident, Major Incident and Problem Management processes
  • Manage third party Vendors to ensure that they continue to provide a consistent level of service, with a focus on ensuring we drive value for money
  • Ensure that all platforms remain performant in line with business requirements and have sufficient capacity to deliver the underlying service now and for the future
  • Ensure our environments are sufficiently backed up, ensure that adequate disaster recovery tests and failovers are performed in line with the business RPO and RTO
  • Facilitate the delivery of project work according to business need
  • Highlight opportunities to improve/evolve technology platforms to benefit of the business
  • Assist with testing and validation of changes and/or deployments where necessary
  • Provide 3rd line support to major incidents
  • Contribute to and maintain the Technology Services documentation repository, ensure oversight of supplier documentation where required

 

What we’d like you to have:

  • Proven track record of delivery within a fast paced, energised and customer centric organisation
  • 5+ years of IT EPOS/End User Computing experience:
  • Knowledge and understanding of :
    • Windows 10
    • SCCM application and packaging, including bespoke applications
    • Linux
    • Powershell
    • EPOS platforms
    • Active Directory
    • Group Policy Administration
    • InTune
