Utilising your experience of managing £mm budgets across a range of programmes, you will prioritise resource demands whilst continually looking at improved ways of working to support and drive delivery of vetting reform at scale.

As a Deputy Director, you will build and nurture constructive relationships across all levels of stakeholders whilst advocating for the use of the most appropriate methodologies for personnel security transformation and how to bring agile ways of working into delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Programmes & Capabilities, your key responsibilities will include:

• Proactively create, maintain and promote a strong network of connections and an engagement plan across the government stakeholders, ensuring buy-in of the vetting reforms on both policy and programme matters

• Communicate, with conviction and clarity, the vision and strategy of vetting reform, actively promoting the profile

• Lead and be accountable to the SRO for the delivery and effective management of the Vetting Reform Programme, including strategic and operational decision-making, ensuring expert input as appropriate, identifying success criteria, setting project controls (including financial), managing performance, monitoring and controlling progress, engaging fully with assurance and responding to recommendations

• Work with peers (Deputy Directors) to manage and address risks, issues and dependencies across different programmes and products to ensure optimal delivery and to develop the broader team

• Provide high quality advice and recommendations to Ministers and senior officials on key decisions of the programme and corresponding policy, which balances the requirements of the national security community in government

• Balance and mitigate tensions and dependencies across a broad range of senior leaders, providing strategic vision across the rapidly evolving security landscape

• Lead and maintain the performance of a multi-disciplinary, diverse, inclusive and delivery-focused team that includes civil servants and contractors, to successfully deliver the programme

• Create an environment in which the programme can succeed – working effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners, managing their inter-dependencies with the programme to ensure successful delivery

• Allocate and manage resources accordingly, ensuring priorities are set and there is transparent management of budget for all programmes
