This is an exciting time to work in DWP and in our HR Function as we work with stakeholders and partners to enable the transformation of the Department’s services to citizens.

DWP has one of the largest HR functions in the country with around 500 HR professionals. On joining our team not only do you become a member of a great HR community, but the opportunity can also lead to you having access to developing a cross-Government career in HR.

Our HR Business Partners (HRBPs) operate at a strategic level as integral members of business leadership teams across the Department; providing an objective view and challenge and acting as an intelligent customer into the wider HR Function on behalf of the business. They are solutions-focused practitioners working on varied people management issues at different levels in order to deliver the right outcome for
the business.

Our HRBPs are required to be a leader within the business and HR, and are expected to get involved in cross Civil Service HR work, and corporate Departmental activities. They demonstrate understanding, interest and curiosity about the business area they partner. They have a pro-active approach to stakeholder engagement at a senior level and an ability to understand a broad range of organisational development and transformation issues. They identify issues and offer advice and solutions in a large, complex and fast changing environment. They role model the values of the Civil Service, demonstrating drive, confidence and adaptability to enable our organisation to transform and deliver.
