Function: Finance (External Reporting & Assets and Overheads)

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Accountant based within our Finance function based at our Support Centre in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Reporting into the Financial Controller for External Reporting you will be a part of a team ensuring the accurate and efficient accounting, consolidation and external reporting for Whitbread.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for external statutory disclosure is made in line with accounting and legal requirements that internal policies are appropriate, fit for purpose and consistent with international accounting requirements as set out in IAS’s and IFRS’s
  • Ensure all accounting requirements are captured and communicated to the wider finance teams
  • Deliver a true and fair set of financial statements through the year-end audit process and effective engagement with External Auditors
  • All subsidiary financial statements are filed on time
  • Maintain a strong relationship with external auditors, with no audit overruns
  • Financial change management, supporting the finance implementation of business change projects to existing or new processes and controls
  • System utilisation and control, to maximise the effectiveness of Oracle Fusion
  • Identification, communication of and managing the resolution of accounting issues including production of technical papers
  • Engage and collaborate senior management to support judgements and impairment
  • Maintain and improve models used in impairment review

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA)
  • Two years qualified 
  • Experience of working within a large organisation  
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP 
  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Good technical accounting skills 
  • Experience of production or audit of UK statutory accounts
