The opportunity: 

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a Head Office Actuarial team providing consulting services to the Zurich actuarial function across Europe and Middle East (“EMEA”) and head office team of Zurich Insurance plc (“ZIP”). Based in the UK you will participate in a range of projects which include Reserving, calculation of Solvency II Technical provisions, Capital Modelling, IFRS17 development and Management & Regulatory reporting.

The varied nature of the role will require flexibility in both type of work carried out and in location of work with potential to support a range of local actuarial teams across Europe and Head Office functions in UK & Ireland. This may involve travel to businesses as required and where appropriate. You will also be part of the wider Head Office actuarial team, with a strong focus on process improvement projects.

Using your strong analytical skills and business acumen, you’ll work alongside some of the most talented qualified actuaries across Europe, as well as liaising with other areas of the business, including Finance and Underwriting.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • With minimal supervision, work on specific projects to support the EMEA Actuarial team in specific projects, deriving, reporting and communicating results.
  • Support ZIP Head team with calculation of regulatory results and reports.
  • Participate in actuarial process improvement activities within EMEA and ZIP.
  • Providing technical advice and counsel within the Actuarial team and to the wider Finance team, when required.
  • Your skills and experience:
  • Qualified actuary, or nearly qualified and actively studying for the final exams.
  • A high level of numeracy skills and an analytical approach to work is essential.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and optimise existing processes.
  • Excellent team-working, communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
  • A serious and professional attitude towards compliance of regulatory submissions with an eye for attention to detail in order to support accuracy.
  • Enthusiastic and positive can-do attitude.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and driven to deliver to set deadlines.
