You will support with their therapy, plan social and leisure activities, give medication and complete associated paperwork. You will also support the Deputy Manager and Residential manager to ensure that the running of the home is maintained to the highest standards. You will assist in the co-ordination of shifts, ensuring 1:1 time is planned for the young people as well as the facilitation of appointments and planned activities. You will also take the lead in managing this in the absence of the Deputy Manager. You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team including Nurses, Psychologists and Psychiatrists to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes for our young people.

Senior Support Worker Requirements:

You will need to be compassionate, calm, resilient and understand the issues and challenges our young people face. You will have the ability supervise staff and be IT literate as there is a requirement to update online care records. You must also thrive in a team environment and be flexible with the ability to work a 7-day rota, completing early and late shift patterns alongside sleep ins (usually 1 per week) for which an additional payment is made. Having a driving licence is not essential but it is beneficial to help transport our young people to appointments and activities. The use of a house pool car is provided for this.

Care in Mind operates a safer recruitment process and as part of this process the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About Care in Mind:

Care in Mind provides residential services for young people and young adults aged 16-30 years old who have been discharged from psychiatric inpatient stays or secure children’s homes. Our aim is to support the young people using an innovative therapeutic approach and least restrictive practice to enable them to live in a non-secure community setting and to achieve their individual goals in preparation for transition to adult life. Our “no restraint” policy allows for more respectful and thoughtful relationships with young people and avoids traumatisation and consequent escalations in risk.

Due to expansion we are pleased to be opening a new residential service in the Bolton area and recruiting a full staff team to support our young people.
