Are you an experienced Land Law Adviser striving to achieve a better work / home-life balance, boasting a ‘can do’ attitude who enjoys working in a friendly team environment?

Are you tenacious with tenancies? Confident with covenants? Find easements easy?

Look no further – this exciting opportunity could be the role for you. A position as a Land Law Specialist Adviser has arisen to cover maternity leave. Beyond the fixed term period, it may open up new opportunities for career progression either within the NFU or otherwise.

Specialist Adviser (Land Law) Responsibilities:

As a Land Law Specialist Adviser, you will work within a team in which you will provide high quality legal, technical or policy related advice in reply to member queries. Typical queries we receive from our members include tenancy disputes, boundaries, adverse possession, public rights of way and easements, amongst others.

Queries are predominantly dealt with via the telephone, although other mediums are used. For example, you will be involved with reviewing and amending legal guides for members, and confirming advice in writing when required. You will therefore need to have a flexible and adaptable communication style, an excellent telephone manner and experience providing quality customer service.

The role requires you to be experienced in advising on Land Law as your fundamental topic, but you may also be required to provide legal advice to our members on other topics such as contract law, planning, transport or environmental issues, following structured in-house training from our team.

Specialist Adviser (Land Law) Requirements:

You will need to possess a degree in law, or related subject and have at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience advising on Land Law. The role may suit a solicitor, a licensed conveyancer, or an associate or higher-level member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (or someone working towards that qualification), although this is not essential.

To be successful in this busy and varied role you will need to be an imaginative problem solver, possess impressive organisational skills and have a keen eye for detail. You will also be a learner capable of getting to grips with new areas of law proficiently. A genuine interest (or first-hand experience) in agriculture would also be beneficial.

About NFU:

The National Farmers’ Union represents the interests of farmers and growers across England and Wales. Promoting the interests of farmers and growers, we aim to influence decision making at the highest levels, as well as to provide day to day business support, in order to create an environment in which our members can be successful.

Job type: Full time, Temporary Fixed Term Contract up to 12 months maternity leave, Flexible working considered; between 8am – 6pm and your normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week working within these hours, although flexibility within these core hours may be required.
