About the role
We're looking for a Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The Submarine Supply Chain Team forms part of the Procurement and Supply Chain function in Naval Nuclear. Based in Submarines, the team manages the Submarine Supply Chain requirements including material procurement, equipment overhaul and repair to ensure availability to support the Submarine programmes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the sub-contract element of the Vanguard Class Submarine platform with overall responsibility of a team of Project Procurement Specialists.
A large part of this role will involve effective stakeholder management due to having £20m expenditure within project scopes.
What do I need to do the role?
We would like you to hold MCIPS or Equivalent Supply Chain Degree or an Engineering background with a vast amount of experience in Sub Contracts. We would also like you to hold all or some of the following:
- Understanding of contract terms and conditions and the ability to manage subcontract terms including flow-down terms from customer contracts.
- Understanding of cost models, for example in relation to the NEC models, familiarity with accounting
- Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current strategic procurement techniques
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
