Support Worker Responsibilities:
Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Support Service provides support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers, helping them to maintain their independence, access services, improve their sense of well-being and have more control of their lives.
The service is unique to each service user, as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs. As a Dementia Support Worker, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support and guidance which will help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living, prepare for the future and access relevant local services.
You will offer support to services users in a variety of ways, such as service offices or other locations, face to face, by phone, letter or email. The successful candidate will be expected to have good networking skills and work on promoting the service and build relationships with a range of health and social care professionals.
Support Worker Requirements:
We are looking for an individual who possesses NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) with an understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Your ability to assess clients needs, along with the understanding of the need for client confidentiality is essential to provide a valuable and worthwhile service. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent non-judgemental communication skills as well as good organisation and time management skills. Good IT skills and experience of working with databases is also essential.
You will be visiting people in their homes, therefore the ability to travel independently across the area is essential.

Position: Dementia Support Worker
Location: You will be working in the Harlow area, but will at times you will be supporting families across the West Essex area, which includes Epping Forest and Uttlesford
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Part time, 28 hours per week
Salary: £15,971.20 - £16,616 actual per annum (depending on skills and experience)
