Salary: £16,113 per annum
I am a gentleman in my 60’s living in my own home in Winterton, North Lincolnshire and I am looking for male support workers who can help me stay safe at home and work toward my goals. I have a diagnosis of Autism and a Moderate Learning Disability. I have lived in care throughout my life, for much of this time I have lived in an institutional setting.
I like to have a very good therapeutic relationship with my staff team. I can sometimes be frank, but this can be positive because people know what my view is. I find structure and routine helpful and do like to be involved in planning and choosing of activities and meals.
I have various interests including going for long walks in the quiet woodland or country area, eating out, pottering around in my home as well as going out locally.
Support Worker Requirements:
My Autism and my Learning Disabilities mean I can lack an understanding of my own risk factors, potential triggers and warning signs. I need you to be good at identifying these on my behalf. I need you to be patient and non-judgemental as sometimes my frankness can be misunderstood. I don’t like going out when the weather is bad. I will need you to monitor this and help me plan around bad weather. At times I struggle to tolerate noisy and crowded environments – you should always aim to plan around less busy days and times to minimise anxiety and distress.
I require you to have experience working with and understanding the Positive Behavioural Support Model and use proactive strategies to effectively support me in staying safe and making the most of my opportunities within the community.
