Support Worker
Salary: £18,720 per annum

I am a gentleman in my late teens who lives in my own home, in Shropshire and I am looking for Support Workers who can help me to reach my potential in life. I have a team of staff to support me on a 2:1 basis during the day and 1.1 waking staff at night. It would be helpful to have staff who are able to drive. I like to get out and about with staff and would like to feel socially included in the wider community. I enjoy reading, I like looking at picture’s of wasps, hornets and road signs. I have an extensive knowledge of maps. I enjoy going on walks with staff and visiting cafes. I have a good sense of humour and I am friendly. If this sounds like you, I would love to meet you!

I need you to be;

Experienced in working with clients who have Learning disabilities, autism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Psychosis. I can display behaviour that can be perceived as challenging and require caring staff around me to give me reassurance and encouragement and help me to live an independent meaningful life in my own home.

I can communicate my needs, wishes and feelings verbally but with people I feel comfortable with, however when I get frustrated I do have a stammer and I may be difficult to understand so need my support team to have the patience to let me communicate when I need to and to talk to me calmly and positively. Visuals, including symbols and Makaton signs are available to support communication and decision making.

I respond well to praise and reassurance around positive interactions and behaviour. I like to know why I am doing something well and what people think about me. You will need to explain in simple terms what I needs to do and encourage me to do what is expected.
