I am a 32 year old gentleman, with severe learning disabilities and autism. I will shortly be moving to my own property in the Oswestry area. I am looking for staff to support me in my own home, I require a lot of support from my staff to team, to help me maintain my daily routine and to help me feel safe.
Support Worker Requirements:
I require staff who have experience of working with severe learning disabilities and autism, I can also display behaviours perceived as challenging. I need staff that can support all of my personal care and who have experience in working with clients who are incontinent. I have some communication difficulties and experience in Makaton and Pecs would be preferred. Staff should also have knowledge of DoLs, as I will have a legal framework to keep me safe.
I must have staff that can support my need to have both structure and routine, I need to have clear boundaries, these are very important. Good working knowledge of PBS would be an advantage. This is an active role as I need support 24 hours a day support and care. I have some visual impairment and staff would need to have some knowledge in tissue viability to support my physical health needs. I am very skilled with IT and use all forms of technology, I like to watch Peppa Pig and the Tele Tubbies, I love listening to music and enjoy sensory activities.
It is important that staff are able to support me in the local community as I like eating out and visiting charity shops. I have a close relationship with my mum, she plays an important role in my life.
