Salary: £18,720 - £24,290 per annum
I am a gentleman in my mid-twenties, I have lived all of my adult life in residential care and I am about to move to my first home in the community, where I can be supported to live and enjoy my life. I will have up to 3 staff with me during the daytime time and 2 staff at night, one sleeping and one on a waking night. I have a diagnosis of Autism and Learning Disability; this can affect how I feel and understand the world around me. I also have some behaviours that can be perceived as challenging. I will have a vehicle to support me with activities and will require staff to hold a full driving licence.
Support Worker Requirements:
I require you to have a good understanding of Autism and Learning Disability, previous experience in a similar role would be preferred. Have a good understanding of anxiety and be an effective communicator who can use simple language as well as pictures and symbols to help me to understand what is happening and learn how to cope with new experiences. I need staff that can be patient and offer me reassurance to feel safe in my environment.
Knowledge and understanding of Person Centred Behaviour plans and proactive strategies is essential. I prefer to work with staff who are enthusiastic and animated, who use clear verbal language and who share the same interests as I do. I like drawing, watching ‘You tube’, cooking and baking, photography and I collect garden figures. I like meeting new people and I am sociable, active and energetic. I have support from my family and grandparents, I enjoy talking with them on the phone and enjoy their visits to me at home, I also like to visit them and will require support to do this. I have a good sense of humour and I love to talk! If you think you have the skills that I need to live in the community, please get in touch.
