Tax Manager (Part Time)

The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing tax compliance and reporting requirements across the group, tax planning and accounting for income taxes, preparation of tax returns as well as working with the business to ensure tax impacts are fully understood on business decisions. There is a group wide focus to oversee tax matters in all regions and to manage the group tax rate effectively. The role holder needs to have a continuous improvement mentality and promote this across the business. This person needs to be comfortable with both reporting to senior management on strategic issues as well as getting their hands dirty, preparing tax returns and other filings.

Responsibilities include:

  •  UK Tax returns and compliance - Responsible for preparation and filing of tax returns and dealing with any queries, investigations and audits, as well as all claims and allowances.
  • Overseas tax - Ensure tax filings are made in line with local laws and regulations and tax returns and reconciled to group accounts. This covers all taxes, including profit tax and VAT and other sales taxes. Oversee responses to tax issues raised by local tax authorities. Oversee US Federal State returns and State tax returns.
  • Transfer pricing - Ensure transfer pricing policy is adhered to and to assist local finance teams deal with any local tax audits and questions on transfer pricing.
  • Business support -Provide advice on tax impacts for project bids/proposals (withholding tax, VAT, PE risks etc) and other operational matters to deliver tax efficient decisions on operational and restructuring projects.
  • THEIA - Provide tax advice to THEIA team for new SAAS product, including tax impact of selling in new countries.
  • VAT - Responsible for preparing UK VAT returns and dealing with any questions from authorities.
  • Annual External Audit - Responsible for the tax reporting (IFRS/UK GAAP) in the Group and UK financial statements (including tax disclosures, accruals and deferred tax and all reconciliations) and assisting with audit queries on tax matters.
  • Parent company reporting - Manage tax reporting to parent company (such as SAO, CbCR, Economic substance reporting).
  • R&D tax credits - Oversee R&D tax claims.
  • Withholding tax - Monitor withholding tax around the group to ensure we maximise any offset or repayment.
  • Tax strategy - Responsible for developing and maintaining an effective and efficient planning and forecasting framework for the Group’s Effective Tax Rate, advising on structure and strategy to improve the tax position of the group.
  • Job Description

    Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

  • Qualified accountant with a Tax qualification with minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience of UK and international tax matters (including US)
  • Experience of professional services, in particular the oil and gas / engineering sector would be ideal
  • Understanding of financial reporting for tax
  • Attention to detail, with excellent analytical and communication skills
