Application Support Specialist

This exciting new opportunity is supporting Waters novel bioprocessing initiative and is key to enable customers to gain maximum benefit linking Waters BioAccord solution with Sartorious Ambr bioreactors to accelerate clone selection and process development of biotherapeutics. The incumbent will work as part of the Analytical Professional Services Team of Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) Solution Support Specialists focused on customer application training and support.

The position offers an international working atmosphere, learning from peers with decades of application experience in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, the opportunity to network with product development and marketing and sales departments, and ample growth opportunities for the future in the fast-growing Bioprocessing segment.

A strong background in biological mass spectrometry, biopharma LC-MS applications and sample preparation, excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving, and the strong desire to be at the forefront of biotherapeutic manufacturing support are implied. A sound understanding of upstream and downstream bioprocessing is an advantage.

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Provide on-site training and application support on Waters’ BioAccord Smart MS solution to users in the field of bioprocess development
• Add customer value by sharing gained knowledge on the latest waters_connect apps
• Support customers in the analysis of upstream biopharmaceutical process development, i.e. Intact Protein and Cell Culture Media LCMS measurements
• Act as scientific partner to customers to ensure their wider success
• Act as internal Subject Matter Expert to drive collaboration and support of local Waters’ teams
• Participate in global continuous improvement discussions to advance the support capabilities of the Waters bioprocessing initiative
• Continued growth of personal application expertise on Waters total solutions

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience

Experience:

• Sound knowledge of protein manufacturing process (upstream/downstream) is a plus.
• Hands on experience specializing in biopharmaceutical mass spectrometry and data analysis
• Experience with Waters’ LCMS systems and informatics products is an advantage

• Demonstrates ability to work both independently and as a member of multinational teams
• The candidate should be self-motivated, accountable, inquisitive, and have excellent organization, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong networking and communication skills to interact with customers and internal Waters stakeholders
• Fluent in English

Travel:

• The role is field-based, and the location should be close to an international airport allowing travel (up to 50%) across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
