Your new role

Governance and Performance is responsible for leading on a range of supporting business activities across the Digital Services Directorate, providing direct support and visibility on Digital Service Performance, Business Planning, Governance and Reporting. 

Our key aim is to deliver a robust, high-quality, customer-focused business support function to our stakeholders and as a newly forming team this is an exciting opportunity to join us at a time when we are modernising our ways of working and delivering significant advancements in our digital services.

As an Associate Delivery Manager, you will be one of the main points of contact across Digital Services (DS) Directorate for the team, supporting the management of DS/IT service contracts with a range of administrative duties.  You will also manage a small portfolio of contracts within our DS procured from various frameworks, ensuring that our services align and comply with their terms and conditions, and oversee the financial management for each contract. 

The role can be based in either Birmingham, Bristol or Leeds. We have a hybrid working approach, with a combination of office and home working. 

What you’ll be leading on

  • Manage aspects of small scale IT projects across lifecycle, including financial, to reach agreed business and strategic benefits, and contribute to the management of contract compliance and risk in an effective way.
  • Participate in skills gap analysis to identify key areas of project/programme management skills that need to be developed.
  • Apply an appropriate programme/project management framework, to an agreed standard, when setting up projects, liaising with other Programme Managers or team members and related projects to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated and ensure delivery is compliant, on time and in line with the Frameworks and Call-off Contracts.
  • Work with suppliers and other Directorates to ensure that all programmes/projects deliver best value and maximise benefits to customers, both during delivery and following completion to ensure customer requirements are met and align to Government and company DS/IT strategies.
  • Day-to-day control of all aspects of Information Technology projects and programmes, subject to guidance and supervision from the Group/Programme Lead when working with third party suppliers, and develop strong relationships.
  • Support IT Group or Programme Leaders to drive delivery against the agreed plan, assisting specific issues and being accountable for agreed actions.

To be successful you’ll need

  • An understanding of the Oracle (or similar) system.
  • Good experience of using Microsoft Office tools.
  • An understanding of contract, supplier, financial and performance management within a Digital Services/IT service environment.
  • Experience of working within a large public or private sector organisation in a similar role.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance in terms of the Digital Demand Process, and ability to provide support to the Business Relationship Managers.
