Role purpose

This is a business risk partner role, working within the COO Office - reporting into the Head of Operations Business Control. The role will provide the COO Function and Operations Senior Leadership Team, with support and assurance over RLAM’s risk and control environment. This includes enabling risk management best practice and embedding this into RLAM’s COO business functions: Operations, Data, Change and Technology. The role will also support RLAM Finance and collaborate regularly with other areas of the business on various projects.


The successful candidate will have a background or keen interest in managing operational risk and delivering high quality day to day process & control improvements. They will have experience of working in an asset management business, be able to foster & build effective relationships with key stakeholders and enjoy supporting change management & helping move a firm’s capabilities forward on a strategic level, through effective risk management.


Key responsibilities

  • Active engagement in implementing and embedding the Risk Management Framework, Standard and Procedures
  • Complete control testing, reporting on issues identified and providing recommendations for improvements
  • Monitor timely completion of controls, actions, issues from a variety of internal and external parties
  • Production of management information, including action and procedure monitoring to evidence control maturity across the functions
  • Support and coordinate AAF activity
  • Maintain RLAM’s business continuity plans including the organisation and facilitation of regular DR testing and IMT rehearsals
  • Annual reviews for system BIAs on Sharepoint
  • Provide subject matter expertise, support and guidance to the COO and Finance business functions, promoting best practice and a view on business change impacts
  • Oversight of system access reviews (incl. owner of system access guidelines).


Essential Criteria

  • Experienced at working within a risk and control environment focussed role (either 2nd line or within the business)
  • Asset management knowledge with good working knowledge of operational activity
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to present complex information clearly and accurately
  • Good analytical skills including analysing trends and developing effective reporting & MI
  • Ability to generate recommendations which improve business processes that are acceptable to operational management; and
  • Able to provide constructive challenge.
