Dietetic Assistant/Support Worker
Lostock, Bolton
£22,549 - £24,882 (Depending on experience)
37.5 per week, Monday – Friday 9am - 5pm

Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-25 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life.

The Dietetic Assistant/Support Worker position is a unique role which acts as a bridge between the clinical and residential teams and involves working in-house alongside the residential team. The role is fun and dynamic and involves close collaboration with the full MDT to develop and provide an effective and innovative programme of care for complex individuals living with eating disorders. You will have a really broad spectrum of duties, including facilitating groupwork, monitoring physical health, and motivating the young people to reach their dietetic and wellbeing goals.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in Dietetic role within a health and social care setting
  • Must be willing to become an associate member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and attend regular CPD under the BDA
  • Thorough understanding of Nutrition and well being
  • To have a good understanding of Health and Social Care
  • A good understanding of the issues young people may face
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a wider multi-disciplinary team (both internal and external)
  • The ability to organise own workload effectively and to work independently
  • To have a good understanding of the issues young people may face

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of supporting service users with eating disorders
  • Experience of working within residential services
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
