We have an exciting opportunity for a well-organised self-starter to join the editorial team of our journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (UOG) as Editorial Assistant, to support our Managing Editor and her staff in our west London-based editorial office.

UOG is the official journal of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG). It is recognised as the leading peer-reviewed journal on imaging within the field of obstetrics and gynecology, publishing important research from all parts of the world. UOG has an impressive Impact Factor of 7.3, with more than 5 million article downloads each year. It is published monthly and features an international authorship and a fully electronic manuscript submission and review process.

Editorial Assistant Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will assist in the editorial processes of the Journal, including editing and copyediting articles accepted for publication and proofreading typeset proofs, and support the administration and peer-review processes. The main aim of this position is for the candidate to develop their editorial skills with view to undertaking additional editing and proofreading responsibilities as they progress in their role.

Editorial Assistant Requirements:

We are seeking candidates with an excellent command of written English, a strong scientific background (degree in biological or biomedical science essential, Master’s degree preferred), a keen eye for detail and interests in research methodology and academic publishing.

About the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG):

ISUOG is a highly respected professional membership organisation across 140 countries, comprised primarily of clinicians who are ultrasound experts in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

The Society includes obstetricians and gynecologists, trainees, medical doctors, scientists, sonographers, midwives and other health professionals who work to advance women’s health and well-being globally. Our mission is to improve women’s health through the provision, advancement and dissemination of the highest quality education, standards and research information around ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology. This is achieved through education and training, programmatic initiatives and advocacy.

Location: The role is based from ISUOG House, 122 Freston Road, London, W10 6TR. From 1st September 2021, a hybrid working arrangement has been agreed, which is subject to review after one year. The job holder will be expected to work from ISUOG House for a minimum of two days each week, subject to any Covid restrictions in place.

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £23,000 to £25,000 per annum dependent on experience, plus benefits

Benefits include: 20 days’ annual leave per annum plus eight Bank/Public holidays (rising by one day per year for every complete year of service, up to an additional five days), together with three additional days over Christmas and New Year; 4% (matched) employer pension, rising to 6% on successful completion of probation; Employee Assistance Program; Season ticket loan scheme.
