Estate Manager

Job Description

In this role you will be required to ensure the College and Midland Academies Trust (The Group) estates, buildings and transport assets are maintained to a very high and consistent standard to satisfy requirements and all regulatory and statutory bodies. On top of this, you will also manage Estates, Premises and Site Warden Teams, and contribute to and lead the implementation of estates strategies. Other aspects of the role will include the management of refurbishment, expansion and other building advancements in terms of bidding, developing procuring and implementing building projects.

Estate Manager Responsibilities

Facilities and Estates

To maintain the Group estates, buildings and transport assets.
To contribute to the preparation of the Group-wide Estates Plan.
To prepare and implement building, maintenance and refurbishment programmes.
To make operational decisions within the approved policy and procedure framework.
To ensure best value is achieved from the staff you line manage and external contractors employed.
To negotiate and co-ordinate with approved external contractors on matters .
To develop and maintain benchmarking reports for your area.
To develop a commercial income from the activities of the department.

Health and Safety

Prepare and deliver an annual health & safety training plan to advise staff on the production
To provide appropriate and effective security provision for all premises.
To ensure proper siting and maintenance of all health & safety related.
Ensure that traffic management on all sites maintain clear access for emergency vehicles.
Monitor the legal environment to ensure on-going compliance with Health and Safety developments.
Promotion of high standards of health, safety and welfare
Ensuring processes and practice afford for appropriate use and safeguards to protect data
Effective distribution of tasks and activities to ensure workloads are managed fairly
Ensuring the mutual responsibilities to safeguard staff and learners are understood by all

Estate Manager Requirements


Educated to 1st degree level or equivalent professional qualification (such as NEBOSH)
Literacy and Numeracy qualifications to at least Level 2 or equivalent
Membership of Professional Body such as RICS or BIFM
Evidence of strong relevant CPD


Management of operating budgets of significant value
Project management of significant refurbishment projects
Experience of educational estates (Higher, Further or School)
Experience of having managed multi-site estates and facilities teams and portfolios


The Group is currently at a very exciting time for estates, we are currently building a new school for our Hartshill Academy, we have achieved outline planning permission to redevelop the Nuneaton Campus and we are about to start delivering T levels this September across our college campuses. Location: Nuneaton - can be flexible for the right candidate in terms of hybrid working
Salary: £35, 907 to £42, 866
Contract: Full time, permanent
