Our team are focused on providing retirement, investment and workplace savings to over 3.8 million customers. To do that we work with financial advisers and employers, to help improve peoples' financial wellbeing.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.
The Financial Controls team develops and delivers a significant element of the programme of work for the AEGON UK Sarbanes-Oxley attestation (SOx), providing oversight and assurance for the Finance function, which includes Actuarial, and assists with SII Model Validation requirements. In addition, the Financial Controls Team undertakes CASS oversight activities where required.
In this role, you will lead and perform a range of oversight and assurance activities compliant with the relevant regulation, Group methodologies and practices. The focus will be on monitoring adherence and driving improvements to the controls over finance and business risks.
You will act as a pivotal link between Finance and business functions, liaising with process and control owners to deliver value through providing oversight and assurance, by assessing the effectiveness of the design and operation of controls (and contributing to the development of improvements). The Finance Controls Assurance Manager must be able to use effective communication, knowledge and insight to influence technical specialist process owners to agree control requirements, test timetables, deficiencies and remediation actions, which ultimately contribute to the SOx reporting to the AEGON UK Group Audit Committee.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience of working within an accountancy, finance, risk or internal audit function, ideally in a senior or managerial role
- Knowledge of Financial assurance, risk & controls
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of assurance principles and techniques
- A knowledge of ESG controls & assurance would be desirable
- Financial Services experience would be beneficial, but not essential
- Experience of SOx, model validation and controls testing would be desirable
- A Professional accountancy qualification, or working towards an accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA), would be beneficial, but not essential.
What's in it for you?
- A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%
- A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
- 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)
We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.
