Negotiation is a vital part of this role, being able to create quality code while bringing the vision of the project to life. We are a very hands-on team, which requires a hands-on leader, using a variety of programming languages to ensure you won’t stop doing what you love… technical coding.

Lead Developer Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a mentor to less experienced team members using both your leadership skills and technical knowledge.
  • Creating quality code and general working practices, helping to bring value to the business.
  • Using continuous development practices in a collaborative way to improve project delivery speed.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and choose technologies that solve the problems while staying within the constraints.
  • Writing testable, scalable and quality code and leading code reviews.
  • Encouraging peers to take the lead on projects and growing both technical and leadership skills.
  • Working on interesting challenges seeing them through with the team.
  • Include the latest technology thinking in your work, drawing on peer knowledge.
Lead Developer Requirements:
  • Excellent understanding of two or more languages, (PHP, Javascript (Node), Java, etc…) and are proficient with the latest OOP technologies.
  • A strong background in React and experience building UI components.
  • The ability to use API’s both third party and internally written to deliver projects.
  • Resilience in situations where ambiguity requires you to approach the problems from different angles to attain the solution.
  • The experience to influence others and always push for technical excellence while being open to change to approach when needed.
  • Lead a development team using agile methodologies, lean and/ or Continuous Delivery approaches such as TDD, paired programming and automated infrastructure (unit test, automated testing).
  • Working knowledge of GitLab or similar, for code collaboration and version control.
  • Ability to work with & upgrade legacy code.
  • APIs and RESTful Web Services.
  • Experience with native and hybrid smartphone application development (or the drive to learn this).
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL, NodeJS, Laravel, ES2015, SCSS, React Apps.
  • Bonus points if you have knowledge of cloud technology such as Google Cloud, AWS, Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Extra bonus points if you have knowledge of ML/AI and the desire to implement it into a production environment.
