What you will be doing…
As a Litigation Executive in our firm, you will benefit from a 3-month training program covering all the technical skills and knowledge you need. You will have dedicated training and support on our case management and telephony systems, along with in-depth training in Landlord & Tenant Law.
You will report to the supervising Solicitor of the firm, supporting the efficient oversight of the firms conduct of litigation. You will act as a point of referral for the wider litigation function, supporting a growing team of Paralegals with the day to day running of their files. You will be responsible for giving guidance and advice on the appropriate litigation strategy for cases, along with assisting Paralegals with drafting advice.
You will handle a small caseload of complex files including for high value clients. This will predominantly relate to housing disrepair claims and contentious possession proceedings.
You will play a pivotal role in the firm for the delivery of training to the team to build competence and to the wider Group, and its customer network.
In addition, during a typical day you will:
• First Line of Defence (1LOD)
- You will support the supervising Solicitor with the oversight of the firm’s conduct of the reserved legal activities. This will include all Landlord & Tenant related matters from pre-legal through to enforcement.
- You will delivery training and seminars with an aspiration of building sufficient knowledge and competence within the firm to reduce the burden on the 1LOD activities.
• Complex Litigation
- You will act as a point of referral for the firm’s paralegals to ensure appropriate handling of complex litigation, including fast or multi track claims, and contentious litigation.
- You may be required to handle a small case load of such matters from time to time.
• Compliance
- Support the COLP and COFA with ensuring the firm is compliant with the SRA’s and PI Insurer’s requirements;
- Monitor the standard of quality for litigation conducted within the firm and ensure that best practices are sharing with a continuous improvement mindset;
• Training
- Support the firm in building competence through the delivery of training on all litigation related matters;
- Deliver webinars to the Group’s customer base frequently to support customers with regulatory and legislative changes.
- Occasionally, you may be requested to attend principle client’s offices to deliver legal seminars.
About you
Ultimately, we care much more about the person you are, how you think and how you approach things, than a list of qualifications on a CV. Even If you can't say ‘Yes’ to all of the below, but are committed, self-motivated and passionate about customer service, then get in touch with us.
- You will be an excellent communicator, mostly on the telephone but in writing too. Customer service is what sets us apart and experience delivering a market-leading service is a must have.
- You will be proficient in Microsoft word and outlook. Experience with Adobe Pro is advantageous.
- Attention to detail is a must, as you will be drafting and reviewing large amounts of information and documents.
- Being organised is also important, as you will need to be able to speak with clients and progress their cases promptly.
- Having previous experience of working in a regulated environment is advantageous but not essential, we value customer service experience from all backgrounds.
- Any existing qualifications in law, specifically around civil litigation, landlord & tenant law or debt recover will give you a head start.
