Main Purpose

We are looking for a Material Controller to join our small team based at our Southport site.  Reporting into the Senior Material Controller, Manufacturing, you will be responsible for delivery of all aspects of the material control function, conducting activities to deliver an exceptional service to the manufacturing teams by ensuring that materials are planned and delivered to meet the customer needs.
 
Main Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure the delivery of key products to manufacturing / Supply Chain Solutions including internally supplied products
  • Coordinate with internal customers including attendance of production meetings
  • Sustain and increase internal customer satisfaction
  • Resolution of receipt queries, non-conformance and other warehouse / supplier / finance issues
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers and drive improvements within scope of own work
  • Achieve specific targets set by Unipart Rail in line with customer expectations, including production plans, supplier delivery performance, blocked stock, order book acknowledgements and reduction in overdue orders
  • Regularly monitor supplier delivery performance and address issues to resolve using Unipart Way tools and techniques
  • Develop internal working processes to reduce waste and achieve improvements
  • Work with strategic procurement and inventory teams to ensure supplier relationships are established and SAP inventory planning levels are maintained to meet needs

Essential criteria:
  • A level qualification (or equivalent) in a related subject
  • Experience working within material control within a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication, relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Strong data analysis, presentation and problem solving skills
  • Effective time and deadline management and prioritisation skills
  • Good attention to detail, with a methodical and logical analytical approach
  • Excellent IT skills
 
Desirable criteria:
  • Working knowledge of SAP/MRP systems
  • Good understanding of the Rail market, UK and International
